‘Travel Your Way’ Photo Competition!

Rhinocarhire.com is hosting a great competition for travel bloggers to share their favorite modes of transportation.  I was kindly nominated by The Italian Backpacker to participate so here we go!

Travel by road:

1.RoadLiving in London for a year really spoiled me when it comes to public transportation.  I could go on and on about how much I love and worship the Tube (because I do!) but these adorable black cabs evoke some of the best memories I’ve had in London.  They were always there for me when I was running late to a West End show or when my friends and I stumbled out of a club and realized the Tube was closed for the evening.  Honestly, it’s just fun to hop in one of these babies and I’d suggest every tourist take a ride in one at least once!

Travel by air:

2.Air

After scrolling through about 5,000 ‘out of the window’ plane photos, I gave up and stumbled upon this one.  Don’t get my wrong, I love planes, they’re swell.  However, if it was convenient traveling everywhere by ski lift, I’d be a happy camper.  Every other summer, I find myself in Big Bear Lake and one of my favorite activities is riding this scenic sky chair.  The mountains might look a bit odd without the snow but I never tire of the view.  There’s something freeing about your feet dangling over the mountain looking out over the gorgeous lake.

Travel by rail:

3.Rail

Living in the states doesn’t allow me to travel by rail too often.  If I had to pick a memorable train journey, it would be the short but colorful ride on the monorail in Seattle.  You can hop  on this train from two locations in downtown Seattle and it’ll whisk you off to the Space Needle in under 10 minutes.  The coolest part?  It passes through the stunning  Experience Music Project Museum where I quickly snapped this shot.

Travel by sea:

4.Sea

I’ll just come out and say it, I’m not a boat person.  I could stare at the sea all day and be content, but seeing me on a boat is a rare sight.  Although, if you have to go sailing somewhere, it might as well be in Hawaii, right?  Two years ago I spent my Easter break in Maui and got talked into a lovely sunset boat ride.  While on the boat, I was concentrating so hard on not throwing up or falling out that I didn’t manage to snap any good shots.  Once we were on dry land, I was eager to take a photograph to remember my experience and voilà!

I hope you enjoyed my entry because I had a lot of fun digging through my travel photos.  I’d love to nominate Heather on her travels, Ali’s Adventures, Candice Does The World, A Travel Broad, and Solo Friendly to participate.  The deadline is October 30th.

What is your favorite way to travel?  I’d love to know.

Happy Travels 🙂

I love your choices! We always look forward to riding the Big Bear scenic sky chair. You’re right that it’s such a great feeling to be looking at that view and not to be fighting the crowds like in winter. I can’t get enough of how those London cabs are decorated. Travel by sea is my favorite – it’s so relaxing to look out into the ocean.
