Discovering Paradise in Phuket: The Surin Phuket Hotel

December is finally upon us and I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season! Amanda and Matt, my travel blogging friends from Above Our Means, are back at it again with another fun travel post from Asia.

Phuket, Thailand has so much to offer visitors from far and wide. Imagine pristine beaches, friendly faces and gorgeous sunshine (mixed with an occasional afternoon humid rain shower). There’s also no shortage of amazing hotels which allow you to soak it all in, and we were lucky to find a hidden gem called The Surin!

Our list of things we loved about The Surin is practically endless. They keep the theme of hospitality alive that you see all throughout Thailand. From the moment you check in, you are greeted in the stunning lobby with a refreshing, cool beverage and a lovely flower bracelet.

We were then kindly show to our room, a gorgeous one bedroom deluxe cottage with ocean views. The decor and overall atmosphere of the cottage was the perfect mix of luxury and feeling like home. There were cozy robes and slippers to change into, a lovely welcome plate of fresh fruit, and an unforgettable view with steps leading down to the beach. It doesn’t get any better than that!

The day we arrived to the hotel happened to be a Thursday. We were told about the free hotel activities that are put on each day, so we were excited to see what they had in store. Luckily we picked a perfect day to arrive! On Thursday nights, The Surin hosts a cocktail welcome reception for all guests, followed by an optional Island Buffet night, which we definitely opted in for. There was a happy hour hosted by the hotel manager to mix and mingle, and it was a great way to meet other guests from around the world. The Thai buffet dinner was also beautiful, flavorful, and the perfect start to our two-night stay.

Speaking of incredible buffets, the breakfast buffet at the Surin is NOT to be missed. There is a huge variety of Western favorites and Thai classics which will surely suit any taste, and we highly recommend you incorporate it in your daily routine. As for another morning routine, on Friday mornings the resort offers free yoga in the library room with a view straight out to the ocean and pool! With daily activities like these, The Surin really sets itself apart from other luxury hotels. Sure, lounging around stunning pools and beaches is nice, but I really enjoyed the variety.

Two things that really stood out for us were The Surin’s ultra cool black hexagon pool and the private beach! The hardest decision you will have to make here is deciding between taking a dip in one or the other. I know, life is super hard. If you choose the ocean, be sure to visit the amenities desk where you can rent a boogie board or any other ocean toys you want! We also loved just lounging with a view of both, and taking a few hundred snaps for Instagram of course 😉

Everything from the luxury accommodation, amenities, service, and food really blew us away at The Surin. Although we were only there for a precious 48 hours, we were able to fully recharge our batteries and indulge in some rest and relaxation. As far as luxury beach resorts go, you will find everything you desire and more at The Surin in beautiful Phuket. I think it may be time to book our next trip back already…

Have you been to Thailand before? What do you look for in a luxury hotel? I’d love to know in the comments below!

Happy travels!

*Note: The Surin graciously hosted my stay, however, all opinions are my own. I would only ever recommend something that I actually enjoyed!

Looks warm welcoming and luxurious. i could see myself sunny it by the pool with one of those ice-cold Thai beers in hand. The rooms look spacious as does the pool and the blue waters of the ocean are invitings%yA

I’m always in ave when I see posts about Thailand. This place surprised me already in so many levels (only reading about it) that I can’t even imagine how I would feel if once I manage to actually visit this area. Wonderful hotel, I’ve bet you’ve had a fantastic stay.

Its funny you should talk about Thailand because I was on a date with someone who was about to backpack for two weeks in Thailand and I believe that Phucket was one of his stops. The Surin looks like the perfect hotel to stay in and has fantastic facilities!

It’s been over a decade since I travelled to Thailand and this post is a great reminder that I’m way overdue for a return. Great looking accommodations and beach. I’m in the rain and grey of Seattle right now so this post will have me day dreaming a bit.

Wow! I really love The Surin accommodation that you chose. The cottage style was a wonderful choice modern but with a traditional feel. I have never been to Thailand but hope to go there some day.
